If you say to a person, "Give me your hand" or "Lets hold hands" she or he may instantly and violently reject the idea.  They may not view this offer as friendly, if in their past someone's offered hand meant pain.

• Hold to sexually abuse
• Hold to capture
• Hold to secure
• Hold to punish
• Hold to harm
• Hold to fondle
• Hold to kiss
• Hold to sacrifice
• Hold to prevent escape
• Hold to burn (with cigarette)
• Hold to set broken bone
• Hold to put hand in fire
• Hold to put hand on stove burner
• Hold to burn with candle
• Hold to bite
• Hold to give hickies
• Hold to crush
• Hold to stop breathing

Remember, the foundation for all violence begins at birth to 13 years old.  Hands that are supposed to love and comfort may be instruments of harm to many children.  When family, friends or acquaintances pull away, it is not you they resist but possibilities strong memories from their past.
