Infant Abuse and Neglect

Identifies acts of infant abuse and/or neglect which forces the state to remove a new born, infant or toddler from the home and possibly terminate parental rights.
Abuse or Neglect
  • Bleeding diaper rash
  • Body scabs
  • Cradle cap
  • Cat scratches
  • Rodent bites or droppings in baby's bed
  • Diaper rash
  • Given spoiled milk or food
  • Illness left untreated
  • Infected flea bites
  • Lack of bathing
  • Lack of food, proper nutrition
  • Not changed and body cleaned frequently
  • Not properly dressed for the weather
  • Open sores
  • Rat bites
  • Scars from diaper rash
  • Urine burns from back of head to ankles
Failure to Thrive
  • Starvation
  • Low body weight
  • Low body fat
  • Below developmental percentile for age of child
  • Lack of interaction with others
